Petrophysical dataset of the Northern Territory

The Northern Territory Geological Survey (NTGS) is undertaking a Territory-wide compilation of petrophysical data focussing on the key properties of magnetic susceptibility, bulk density, grain density, porosity and permeability.

This compilation is sourced from open file company reports, core sampling reports, government publications and new measurements made on drillcore held at NTGS Core Facilities and the Geoscience Australia Repository.

The progressive compilation of petrophysical data will be prioritised on a terrain campaign approach with the current focus on the greater McArthur Basin, regional correlation between the Palaeo to Mesoproterozoic McArthur and Birrindudu basins and the Tomkinson Province.

Standardised collection of rock properties has been integrated with the HyLogging workflow resulting in new petrophysical data being captured for every drillhole that is scanned.
