McArthur River Mine independent monitor’s environmental report now available
The independent monitor’s Environmental Performance Annual Report on the McArthur River Mine (MRM) site has been released.
The independent monitor discussed the report’s findings at a community meeting in Borroloola on Wednesday 20 December and briefed stakeholders in Darwin on Thursday 21 December.
An annual environmental report from the independent monitor was a condition of the October 2006 approval of MRM’s open-cut expansion project. The ERIAS Group was appointed independent monitor for a five-year period in 2013. The current report covers the period October 2015 to September 2016.
The Northern Territory Government is committed to ensuring environmental values are fully protected across the Territory. You can read the Department of Primary Industry and Resources (DPIR) media release online.
Copies of the independent monitor’s Environmental Performance Annual Report and Community Report for 2016, and DPIR and MRM’s response reports are available on the department’s website and the independent monitor’s website.
