Mining projects pushing ahead

Three mining projects have recently been awarded major project status by the Northern Territory Government.

  • KGL Resources Limited’s $190 million Jervois Base Metals Project, located 270km north-east of Alice Springs. The mine would produce copper concentrate and a lead/zinc concentrate. Construction on the project could begin as early as the end of next year, with an Environmental Impact Statement scheduled to be submitted early next year. Read the Ministerial media release.
  • TNG’s $850 million Mount Peake Vanadium-Titanium-Iron project 280km north of Alice Springs. The proposed project proposal includes the mine and a high technology refinery in Darwin, where vanadium, titanium and iron products could be produced for export overseas.
