Boat ramp surveys commence

Fisheries interviewers have commenced surveying at boat ramps across the Northern Territory as part of the 2018-2019 Territory-wide recreational fishing survey.

Recreational fishers are being encouraged to participate, as the information is vital to help maintain and improve the quality of recreational fishing.

The survey is the first Territory-wide recreational fishing survey undertaken since 2009-2010.

Interviews are expected to take about three minutes, and will contain questions about catch rates, key target species and how much time fishers spend undertaking one of the NT’s greatest pastimes – fishing.

Interviewers will be undertaking surveys at boat ramps during October and November. Boat ramp surveying will not take place in December and January. Interviewers will recommence surveys at boat ramps in February 2019.
